George Sawyer website
George Sawyer studied Art History, Sculpture and Asian Art at the University of Minnesota. After completing his studies he followed another of his passions and began working for a small company that built the most famous racing cars of the era.
Using techniques learned from the metalworking artisans in the racing car workshop, he began making jewellery at home in the evenings. What began as a hobby soon became a passion and George began to design and make jewellery as an occupation. As a self-educated goldsmith, George’s interest in Asian art led him to develop his signature techniques – the original gold “wood–grain“ metal, the subtle and impressionistic “Koi” and “Wabi Sabi” metals and the “Rhythm” family of color sequenced patterned metals.
He finds great pleasure in creating new metals that are an art in their own right. With these colourful, complex patterned metals, he creates beautiful jewellery that speaks to the heart and inspires the imagination.
